RETREATS & workshops

"Songs From The Well" retreats are designed for all levels of songwriters from beginners to pro's to nurture your creative spirit, help guide you to find the truth within your songs and performances, and to encourage your unique voice.  We spend the mornings in meditation, movement and then songwriting and the afternoon on our feet working on performance.  We collaborate with each other and create a trusting community where it's safe to try new things and encourage each other.  These workshops will give you tools to get you out of a 'rut' or a 'writer's block', to find ideas all around  you, to start the song, and even finish the song. We will discover ways to alleviate stage fright and help take the mystery away from performing your songs in front of other people, whether you're singing to your family and friends or on stages to hundreds of people.  I will help you find your own, unique, authentic voice!

Amy has taught songwriting, voice and performance at: Berklee College of Music, The Swannanoa Gathering Contemporary Folk Week, Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Song School, Kerrville Folk Festival Song School, Sisters Folk Festival Americana Arts Academy, Lamb's Retreat For Songwriters, NSAI, NERFA, The International Folk Alliance Conference, and privately via Skype.

Amy possesses a passion to teach what she knows and has been an integral part of the performance faculty at the Song School for nearly two decades. I consider her classes mandatory for all performing songwriters.

In songwriting and in self, I left knowing what authenticity looks like...a sense of community developed and an ability to draw people out of the fear and comfort zones into that community..[it was] a tremendous gift in a world of competition.
— Audrey, Fall 2015 workshop attendee
Amy Speace is a brilliant and intuitive performance teacher, with hard earned wisdom to offer her students, and the passion and courage to convey it.
